Landmark Muslim Gains in New Trump Administration
The Summit coincided with groundbreaking milestones during the first week of the new administration, providing hope for collaboration and progress in the months ahead:
Landmark Palestine Peace Deal: Negotiated an agreement to end hostilities and release hostages, fostering peacebuilding and stability in the region.
Stability Restored in Sudan: U.S. disengagement from Qatari-backed militias allowed the Sudanese government to regain control of key cities, including the capital and military headquarters, ending over a year of unrest.
Dr. Mehmet Oz’s Historic Nomination: Appointed as the Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, making him the highest-ranking Muslim in U.S. history—a milestone for progress and inclusion.
Affirming Quranic Definitions of Male and Female: Two executive orders mandate federal policies recognizing men and women as biologically distinct, prohibit taxpayer funding for promoting “gender ideology,” and require federal documents to reflect biological sex.
No Reinstatement of the Muslim Ban: Marked a historic departure from previous divisive policies, demonstrating a commitment to diversity and inclusion for all.
Sovereign Wealth Fund Pledges for Job Creation:
The UAE’s Sovereign Wealth Fund pledged $100 billion to support job creation in America.
Saudi Arabia pledged $600 billion, joining a group of tech companies that committed $500 billion, bringing the total job creation fund to $1.1 trillion—a historic commitment to economic growth and prosperity.
Potential Saudi Arabia State Visit: President Trump announced that Saudi Arabia might be the first country he visits during his term, ahead of traditional allies like the UK, signaling a strategic pivot in foreign relations and economic partnerships.
Muslim Representation in Inaugural Events : Two Muslims from the Washington, DC area participated in the National Day of Prayer, reciting Quranic verses and the call to prayer. These contributions were powerful demonstrations of inclusion during critical moments of national significance. Additionally, a Shia leader was invited to participate in the inauguration, but his invitation was rescinded due to pressure from Zionist critics.
Areas for Continued Advocacy
While there have been significant gains, the summit also highlighted critical areas requiring further engagement:
Proposed Resettlement of Palestinians: The suggestion of displacing Palestinians to Jordan or Egypt has been met with widespread opposition.
United Nations Ambassador Nominee: Statements endorsing “biblical claims” to occupied Palestinian land raise concerns about the future of peace efforts and human rights.
Rescinding of Sanctions on Settler Groups: The administration lifted sanctions on individuals accused of violence against Palestinians, prompting calls for accountability.
As a community, we must remain vigilant and actively engage policymakers to ensure that peace and justice remain at the forefront of these discussions.
Next Steps: Launch of National Muslim Chamber of Commerce
Membership Development
Raise $100,000 for the Chamber's Launch: Recruit a diverse national board of leaders from key industries such as health, technology, law, retail, food, and religious sectors. Each board member will commit $10,000 through direct contributions or fundraising, ensuring the financial sustainability of the Chamber's initiatives.
Collaborate with Local Chambers: Strengthen grassroots connections by partnering with Muslim chambers of commerce in Memphis, Virginia, and New Jersey. These partnerships will amplify the Chamber's mission and align efforts across regions.
Expand Co-Founding Membership: Encourage new co-founders to join at accessible levels, fostering a robust network of committed members who will actively shape and support the Chamber’s agenda.
Intergovernmental & External Relations
Advocate for Federal Representation: Support the nomination of Dr. Mehmet Oz to ensure a historic milestone for Muslims in U.S. leadership. Recruit talented Muslims to join the Trump administration, enhancing the representation of diverse voices at all levels of governance.
Leverage Sovereign Wealth Funds: Engage with Emirati and Saudi sovereign wealth funds to secure significant investments in U.S. job creation. Position Muslim businesses as leaders in driving global economic growth and development.
Foster Constructive Dialogue with Federal Leaders: Build relationships with senior administration officials to identify and advance shared priorities. Address areas of disagreement through education and collaboration, fostering mutual understanding and impactful policy changes.
Promote Allyship and Faith: Invite key federal leaders to engage with the Muslim community, learn about Islam, and support initiatives that benefit both American and global Muslim populations.
These steps ensure the Chamber's development aligns with its mission to empower Muslim businesses, strengthen intergovernmental cooperation, and drive ethical economic initiatives.
