Academy of Muslim Achievement Background

Who we are: The Academy of Muslim Achievement (AMA) is a non-profit organization based in Washington, DC. We are led by Muslim professionals from the legal, public relations, and technology sectors. With the support of our advisors from across the country, we organize high-quality events to increase bonds between Muslims in the United States across racial, ethnic, and economic lines. We also work to highlight the contributions Muslims make to America each day to strengthen relations with our non-Muslims relatives, co-workers, and neighbors.

Vision: Our vision is to become recognized around the globe as the producer of the Golden Minaret Awards (TM) Gala or “Muslim Oscars.” The aim is to host a televised, Muslim version of the Oscar Awards that honors outstanding achievements of Muslim Americans and supports deserving charities around the country.

Leadership: Like the individuals selected for recognition, AMA’s leadership includes a rich diverse representation of the Muslim community. Photos from past events can be found on AMA’s Facebook site: https://www.facebook.com/AcademyofMuslimAchievement/.

Golden Minaret Awards (“Muslim Oscars”): Similar to the “NAACP Image Awards” or “ALMA” Latino American Awards), the Golden Minaret Awards (“Muslim Oscars”) was created to recognize the service of Muslim Americans of all races, ethnicities, and genders as well as institutions that serve Muslims and non-Muslims alike. Like other large Awards programs, the Muslim Oscars are broadcasted to millions around the world. While this event principally celebrates the achievements of Muslim Americans, we also highlight our non-Muslim allies as well as international champions who deserve recognition.
